Clairvest Neem has rejected allegations that its financing plan for a failed bid for an integrated resort in Wakayama was “unclear” and said it will continue to look for opportunities in Japan.

Caesars Entertainment has reemerged as a contender for an IR license in Japan, although it may face headwinds due to the shifting sands of Japanese politics.

Clairvest Neem Venture, the company which had been officially approved to partner with Wakayama to develop an integrated resort, has added U.S. casino operator Caesars Entertainment to its Japanese IR consortium.

In a relatively rare occurrence, the Wakayama Prefectural Assembly has heard from the Clairvest Group about their plans to develop and IR in the prefecture. 

Wakayama Governor Yoshinobu Nisaka yesterday provided a rough outline of Clairvest Neem Venture’s winning bid to partner with his prefecture on IR development.

The Wakayama Prefectural Government is expected to announce today that it has accepted the consortium led by Clairvest Neem Ventures as viable and it will move forward with its national IR licensing bid.

As expected, both the Suncity Group and the Clairvest Group have filed their proposals to be selected as the IR operator partner of the Wakayama Prefectural Government.

Four years after Japan pushed through its law to legalize gambling, the final bids have been put forward for the government to consider, with only two remaining candidates putting their hands up for one of the three licenses on offer.
