A former police officer has accused four executives of Thailand’s Bhumjaithai Party of accepting bribes from casino operators in Cambodia.
According to The Thaiger, the officer, a former member of the Special Branch Bureau submitted 50 pages of evidence in support of his allegations against the senior party members.
The Bhumjaitai Party is led by casino opponent Anutin Charnvirakul, who was voted in as Thailand’s new Prime Minister earlier this month, after casino proponent Paetongtarn Shinawatra was ousted from office.
The Prime Minister has denied that he met with the ex-officer over the claims.
Santana Prayoonrat told media that the four Bhumjaitai members were involved either directly or indirectly with Cambodian gambling businesses, but did not reveal the specific identities of the officials in question.
