Cambodia has sworn in the son of longtime leader Hun Sen as the nation’s prime minister, marking a new shift in the country’s politics.

Hun Manet was officially approved by Parliament before later being sworn in by the king on Tuesday.

Hun Manet takes the helm after widely criticized elections in July, but his father still retains strong power as his party’s president as well as the president of the Senate.

Having graduated from West Point Military Academy, with degrees from the US and UK, analysts are intrigued by the change this could mean for the nation.

Hs introductory speech outlined broad economic goals, without focusing in on casinos, however promoted economic growth for the nation.

Currently Cambodia’s main casino operator is NagaCorp, based in Phnom Penh.
