The Cambodian gaming regulator has recently released a fresh directive concerning illicit gambling activities.
Signed on February 19th, the directive bears the signature of Aun Pornmoniroth, who serves as both the Head of CCGM and the Minister of Economy and Finance.
This development follows shortly after Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet urged for stricter measures against illicit gambling within the nation, particularly emphasizing the need for tighter controls on lotteries.
According to a local media outlet, the instruction issued by the Cambodian Commercial Gambling Management (CCGM) mandates licensed operators to comply with the terms of their licenses and prominently display them “at all times” on their premises. Additionally, it tasks local authorities with collaborating with the CGMC to conduct routine inspections of gambling establishments to prevent illegal activities.
The directive states, “Keno, lottery, and other forms of illegal gambling significantly disrupt public order, social security, and the livelihoods of residents in village communities.”
