Macau’s Fisherman Wharf operator, Macau Legend Development Ltd, has announced another extension of the timeline for finalizing arrangements related to the planned sale of a casino resort business in Laos. The new deadline is now set for May 3rd.

The deadline for the completion of Macau Legend's sale of its Savan Legend hotel and casino property has been extended until April 15.

Macau Legend has announced that it will be receiving some $6 million less than initially expected for the sale of its 100 percent interest in its Laos casino operation: Savan Legend.

The Government of Cape Verde will revoke the concession for the hotel-casino project in the city of Praia, following the abandonment of the Macau Legend Development group, the country's Prime Minister announced.

After selling the Laos casino Savan Legend this June, Macau-based gaming operator Macau Legend Development Ltd announced it is actively developing non-gaming businesses in order to reduce dependence on gaming.

Satellite casino operator Macau Legend has recorded a loss of some HK$182.5 million ($23.26 million) for the first half-year, according to results filed with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The group saw overall revenues fall by some 22.7 percent yearly, hitting just HK$420.4 million ($53.58 million) during the six-month period.

The operator of Macau Fisherman’s Wharf, Macau Legend, has announced its intention to sell its entire interest in its Laos gaming operation – Savan Legend Resorts Hotel and Entertainment Complex - for some $45 million.

Macau Legend has significantly narrowed its loss in 2022, down 48 percent from the previous year, reaching HK$607.2 million ($77.35 million) but remains concerned that its debt could ‘cast significant doubt on the Group’s ability to continue as a going concern’.

Macau Legend’s plans for a 250 million euro ($271.2 million) casino in the Cape Verde city of Praia could be in jeopardy, after the nation has threatened to take legal action against the company for not following through with its construction and investment deadlines.

Satellite casino operator Macau Legend has entered into a new agreement with Macau gaming concessionaire SJM to ensure its ability to operate its casinos under the license of one of the six authorized companies.
