Macau’s gross gaming revenue was up only slightly from November 2020, reaching MOP6.7 billion (US$838.8 million) in 2021, but was a 54.6 percent improvement from October, according to the latest data from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.

October is typically one of the highest performing months for Macau’s gaming operators, due to China’s Golden Week holidays which boost visitation and revenue.

However, this year’s Golden Week was marred by tightened border restrictions as a result of an outbreak of Covid-19 within the community, which severely restricted visitation during the holiday period.

Macau’s November GGR figures have brought Macau’s accumulated gross gaming revenue for the first 11 months of the year to MOP78.9 billion, rising 49.9 percent compared to the same period in 2020.

Last week, analysts from J.P Morgan said they expect Macau’s full-year GGR to reach just half of its pre-pandemic levels.
