Macau hotel occupancy rates reached 84.8 percent in 1Q24, up by 9.9 percentage points year-on-year, according to information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
Within a one-year period, Macau has added 15 new hotels to the market, with available guest rooms growing by 19.6 percent to 47,000 as of the end of the first quarter of the year.
In 1Q24, all Macau hotels received 3,779,000 guests, up 39.7 percent from last year, and 8.4 percent over the same month in 2019.
The average length of stay for guests remained stable year-on-year at 1.7 nights, which represented an increase of 0.2 nights compared to the first quarter of 2019.
In the first quarter, the number of visitors arriving on package tours rocketed by 329.9 percent year-on-year to 482,000. Meanwhile, in March, the number of visitors arriving on package tours expanded by 118.2 percent year-on-year to 208,000.
Six new hotels with 3K hotel rooms under construction
The Macau Land and Urban Construction Bureau’s most recent statistics indicate that, as of the first quarter of 2024, six hotels were under construction in Macau.
The ongoing developments hold the potential to furnish the city with 3,021 new hotel rooms.
Simultaneously, seven more hotels are in the planning phase, with a combined projection of 851 hotel rooms.
