Mate Hanusi clinches WPT Korea 2024 Championship

Hungarian player Mate Hanusi emerged triumphant at the WPT Korea 2024 Championship Event.

Despite starting with the lowest stack, Hanusi orchestrated a comeback, and ultimately claimed the title.

In a dramatic heads-up showdown, Hanusi faced off against Ma Li, who initially held a commanding chip lead. Hanusi’s gradually whittled away at Li’s chip stack, and in a decisive final hand, went all-in with pocket 8s pre-flop, facing off against Li’s A9.

Despite Li having multiple outs, luck favored Hanusi as the cards failed to improve her hand, securing his victory in the tournament.

Hanusi not only clinched the championship title but also claimed a substantial prize of KRW434.9 million ($321,700). Additionally, he was awarded the prestigious WPT Main Event Champion Trophy and the inaugural WPT Korea 2024 Championship Ring.

Other winners include Roh Sung Ho who won the Superstack NLH for KRW15.1 million ($11,200) and Feng Yuqi in the Hyper Turbo Bounty NLH who won a cash prize of KRW 6,6million ($4,900).
