Poker celebrities descend onto Landing Casino for day one of WPT Korea

The WPT Korea 2024 tournament kicked off with a bang as numerous poker stars, including WPT Ambassador Phil Ivey, attend the first day of WPT Korea 2024 Festival.

Ivey, who participated in the Event #2 Super High Roller with a buy-in of KRW40,000,000 ($30,000), competed alongside Stephen O’ Dwyer, Yu Lei, Zhou Quan, Ouyang Jiali, and Norwegian player Espen Jorstad. The Super High Roller Event attracted a total of 24 entries on day 1, with the action set to continue into day 2.

Joining the fray were Tang Tianyuan and Yang Chongxian, who entered the WPT Opener. Day 1a of the WPT Opener saw a total of 68 entries, with play scheduled to resume the following day.

Rounding out the events of the first day was Event #3 Big Bounty NLH, which drew 73 entries, resulting in a prize pool of KRW 63,729,000 ($47,600). Emerging victorious from this competitive field was Peng Huang from China, securing a notable prize of KRW 12,819,000 ($9,500).

As the tournament progresses into its second day, anticipation is high for the finale of the WPT Super Highroller, which will be live-streamed on WPT Korea’s Facebook page. Additionally, Day 1b and Day 1c of the WPT Opener are scheduled to take place on this day, promising more thrilling poker action for participants and spectators alike.
