The WPT Korea 2024 Championship Event has made history, drawing an unprecedented field of 1,065 entries by the conclusion of Day 1c, marking one of the largest poker gatherings in South Korea’s history.

With this surge in participation, the total prize pool has soared to KRW 2,603,286,000, equivalent to approximately $1.9 million. The first-place winner is set to claim KRW 434,936,000 ($320,000), along with the WPT Trophy and the coveted WPT Championship Ring.

Leading the chip count are three players from China: Lin Yan (836,000 chips), Hai Pan (616,000 chips), and Renji Mao (545,000 chips). Defending champion Yin Tao, aiming for a consecutive victory, remains in contention with 165,000 chips, while last year’s runner-up, Valeriy Pak from Uzbekistan, holds 222,000 in chips.

Among the notable players who have secured their spots in Day 2 are veteran poker players Phil Ivey, Stephen O’Dwyer, Daniel Smiljkovic, and WSOP 2022 Champion Espen Jorstad.

In addition to the main event, other tournaments took place, resulting in two WPT Side Event Rings being awarded.
