Singapore’s integrated resort, Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), has announced that the Hard Rock Hotel Singapore will no longer operate under the Hard Rock brand name as of March 2nd.
The news was shared on the RWS website, stating that the Hard Rock Hotel ‘will undergo a complete makeover as part of RWS’s expansion plans, which will see a dramatic transformation of the integrated resort over the coming years.’
Hard Rock Hotel Singapore, featuring about 360 rooms, debuted in late January 2010.
Genting Singapore first announced its expansion plans in 2019 with a budget of SG$4.5 billion ($2.8 billion). The first phase of the project, dubbed RWS 2.0, started in 2Q22. It includes the expansion of Universal Studios Singapore and the S.E.A. Aquarium, which will become the Singapore Oceanarium.
In November, Genting Singapore announced that its board had given approval for a comprehensive investment of approximately SG$ 6.8 billion ($5 billion) to enhance and expand RWS.
In 3Q23, Genting Singapore delivered SG$ 689.9 million ($507 million) in revenue, representing a 33 percent growth from the corresponding period a year ago. Net profit increased by nearly 60 percent to SG$216.3 million ($159 million).
