Macau’s Ponte 16 has initiated the preliminary phase of its expansion project, with public consultation now underway for the draft urban conditions plan until April 30th.
The plan was released Wednesday by the Land and Urban Construction Bureau among 13 development proposals open for public consultation.
The draft outlines strict height restrictions, mandating that existing Ponte 16 structures remain at their current elevation while limiting any new constructions to a maximum height of 20.5 meters.
This development follows the government’s approval last November when authorities amended the site’s land concession. The revised agreement allows Ponte 16 to develop an additional 9,217 square meters of land next to its current 9,424-square-meter property.
The expansion will feature a new commercial building, plaza, and the “Floating Casino,” which is the project promised by the gaming operator to revitalize the old attraction, seen as part of its non-gaming investment commitment.
According to the updated land concession terms, the new facilities and associated parking area will encompass a total gross floor area of 11,614 square meters.
Hong Kong media reported last month that Hoffman Ma Ho Man, deputy chairman of Success Universe Group which operates Ponte 16, anticipates the project’s completion within two years. The enhanced resort will incorporate additional accommodation and expanded dining facilities.
