Macau’s VIP baccarat segment generated gross gaming revenue (GGR) of MOP15.90 billion ($1.97 billion) in the second quarter of 2026, down 18.8 percent from the first quarter of the year and 2.6 percent lower year-on-year.
Figures from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) showed that the VIP baccarat segment accounted for 26.1 percent of total GGR from games of fortune in the April-to-June period, retreating from the 29.7 percent share recorded in the first quarter of 2026 and slightly below the 26.7 percent registered in the same period of 2025.
Despite the quarterly pullback, VIP baccarat revenue for the first half of 2026 reached MOP35.48 billion ($4.40 billion), up 15.2 percent from MOP30.79 billion ($3.81 billion) in the first six months of 2025.
Overall GGR from games of fortune came in at MOP61.03 billion ($7.56 billion) in the second quarter, broadly flat compared with a year earlier but down 7.4 percent from the MOP65.87 billion ($8.16 billion) recorded in the first quarter.
Mass-market baccarat remained the dominant revenue driver, generating MOP35.17 billion ($4.36 billion) during the period, down 1.2 percent year-on-year and 3.8 percent lower quarter-on-quarter. The segment continued to account for the largest share of gaming revenue, at 57.6 percent.
Other gaming categories also contributed to the quarterly total. Slot machines generated MOP4.11 billion ($509 million), a 17 percent year-on-year increase and a 3.3 percent rise from the prior quarter.
Revenue from the ‘live multi game’ segment came in at MOP1.30 billion ($161 million), up 3.1 percent year-on-year and 3.7 percent higher than the previous quarter.
Outside traditional casino gaming, football betting revenue reached MOP126 million ($15.6 million) in the second quarter, up 38.5 percent from MOP91 million ($11.3 million) in the same period last year, likely reflecting wagering activity around the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Basketball betting recorded MOP50 million ($6.2 million) in the second quarter, broadly in line with the MOP49 million ($6.1 million) registered a year earlier.
