The Preah Sihanouk region, which includes the coastal town of Sihanoukville is showing signs of recovery after a period challenged by an exodus of Chinese tourists and a ban on online gambling, local media reports.
The recovery has been witnessed particularly in the real estate market, with new legislation introduced to encourage foreign investment.
Im Seng Hour, branch manager of Century 21 Zillion Holdings, told the Phnom Penh Post that in Sihanoukville, local investors are beginning to buy and rent properties to do business.
He said the positive sentiment was due to an uptick in tourists, effectiveness of covid prevention and management, progress in vaccination drives and developments in road infrastructure and the airport.
Whilst NagaWorld in Phnom Penh had been closed for much of the year, casinos in Sihanoukville have been open but each are subject to a different policy on entry requirements.
