The Shambala casino recorded nearly 50,000 visitors in the three months that it was open in late 2020, and it contributed 95 million rubles (US$1.3 million) to the budget of Primorye.

The local authorities in Primorye are conducting an investigation of the recently opened Shambala casino on the grounds that some of its advertising may be deceptive in the sense that it didn’t note conditions for a series of discounts, etc.

The Shambala casino is set to become the second such facility in the Russian Far East with its grand opening set for this Friday. This casino will become the direct competitor to the Tigre de Cristal.

Shambala NJSC, which opened a casino in Russia’s Primorye gaming zone in 2020, said it has begun work on the second phase of construction at the resort.

The Primorye government passed an amendment on Wednesday which will provide a six-month tax relief extension for gambling operators in its zone. 

Casinos in the Primorye gambling zone have been able to enjoy three months of zero taxes in 2021 in order to alleviate the strain of low visitation.

The Shambala Casino, the second to open in Russia's Primorye gaming zone, has provided an analysis of its guest profiles for its first 2.5 months of operation, saying the average check per game in 2020 had been RUB8,439 ($116).

The Russian Far East has hosted the Tigre de Cristal casino since 2015, but with the grand opening of Shambala on October 16, Primorye is now truly a gambling zone in competition with its regional neighbors.
