UAE’s first IR by Wynn now 60% complete: report

Construction of the Wynn Al Marjan Island resort in Ras Al Khaimah is now 60 percent complete, with the UAE’s first integrated gaming resort on track to open in 2027, according to local media outlet Arabian Business.

The 60-hectare resort will feature 1,500 rooms, a range of fine-dining restaurants, entertainment options, and a dedicated gaming area.

Wynn officials emphasized that the gaming facilities will be discreet and separated from other guest spaces. The General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA)—a federal executive agency established by decree in 2023 to regulate, license, and oversee all commercial gaming activities in the UAE—is still in the process of developing the country’s gaming regulations. So far, there is no calendar for when the casino could be legalized in the region.

According to the latest update, the resort’s design is being customized to reflect the region’s cultural values and expectations. From guest rooms to service protocols, the entire experience is being tailored to local preferences.

Design Director Todd-Avery Lenahan described the project as Wynn’s most culturally responsive hotel design to date. Certain suites will be configured so that a husband and wife can enjoy their stay without the woman being seen at any time, including during room service—a detail intended to offer discretion.

A bespoke entertainment production is also in development exclusively for the Al Marjan property, setting it apart from Wynn’s other international resorts. While details remain limited, the show is expected to be a major draw for both regional and international visitors.

To ensure the property meets Wynn’s global standards, former Wynn Las Vegas COO Max Tappeiner will serve as President of the Al Marjan resort. He is among roughly 200 team members expected to relocate to Ras Al Khaimah ahead of the opening. Training and cultural immersion programs are already underway to prepare staff for operations.

The resort has also launched its recruitment portal in advance, aiming to assemble a complete on-site team well ahead of its 2027 debut. This early preparation, according to Wynn executives, is key to delivering a seamless guest experience from day one.
