Pronet Gaming CEO Alex Leese shared his personal outlook on the industry during a fireside chat at the ASEAN Gaming Summit in Manila earlier today.
Leese started by explaining that it took his company considerable time to research the best jurisdiction before choosing the Philippines. The decision was based on a number of factors, such as a robust regulatory framework. Stating that Pronet did not want to cut any corners, he mentioned that the ease of doing business has increased in the country and setting up in the Philippines has been a smooth process so far.
Talking about Asia as a market, Leese mentioned that one of the main pitfalls companies can face is to think that one approach fits all, and he stressed the importance of catering to each market individually. Omnichannel platform provider Pronet Gaming offers various options to cater for individual market preferences and the CEO emphasized that operators must tailor their approach for each market if they want to be successful.
Asked if the return of operators such as 188BET was a sign that the Philippines is gaining ground as a place to do business for online gambling companies again, Leese said it can be seen as a big statement to have such a large operator return. 188BET recently announced that it was relinquishing its Isle of Man license in favor of a move back to the South East Asian country.
He currently sees a product mix of 70% casino and 30% sportsbook across the region and mentioned the importance of Artificial Intelligence for the future. Second guessing what a player wants will be increasingly important to boost retention. In his view, the future is not about what the end user wants, but what the end user wants next.
