The full speaker lineup has not yet been confirmed, but organizers have already revealed that basketball legend Dwayne Wade and former Chinese Olympian and founder of the eponymous sports brand Li Ning will be among them. Alibaba’s chairman Joseph C. Tsai will also be in attendance.

Topics to be discussed include investment in sport, professional competitions, the fan economy, sports marketing and women in sport. The role the Greater Bay Area can play “in connecting China with the rest of Asia and the world” will also be on the agenda.

Macau is said to have been chosen as location for the inaugural event as the city is trying to double the size of its non-gaming sector, and sports entertainment set to account for around 15 percent of that.
