The passenger volume at Macau International Airport has steadily increased in 2023 to nearly 5.2 million, reaching 54 percent of 2019 levels, as revealed by the public company responsible for the airport’s operations.
Macau International Airport Co., Ltd. indicated that more than 42,000 flights took off and landed, representing a recovery to 55 percent of 2019 levels. Passengers from both Taiwan and the mainland accounted for 58 percent of the total passenger volume, while passengers from Southeast and Northeast Asia accounted for 27 percent.
MIA noted that its 2024 strategy will focus on consolidating Mainland China routes while simultaneously launching more international markets. Additionally, the airport plans to develop more direct or transit one-stop medium and long routes.
