Genting Hong Kong says it is expecting to record a consolidated operating loss of $280 million and a consolidated net loss of “not more than” $330 million for the first half of 2021. The announcement marks a 13 percent drop and 55 percent reduction in losses for both figures, year-on-year.
The group attributes the turnaround to a share of profit from its Travellers International Hotel Group, amounting to $25 million, and the resumption of cruises by its Explorer Dream and World Dream ships, starting last year.
The group suffered a loss of some $1.72 billion 2020, but a series of new loans and debt extensions have allowed the company to continue.
