
MGM Resorts has moved up the rankings in Forbes’ World’s Largest Hotels, Restaurants and Leisure Companies listing for 2023, scoring number 5 on the charts as the group estimates sales of $14.1 billion and a market value of $15.7 billion.
MGM Resorts rose by some 147 spots in the Forbes Global 2,000 list – coming in at 596 – ahead of rival Las Vegas Sands, which placed 17th among the specific ranking and at 1,293rd within the overall ranking – with sales of $5.3 billion and a market value of $47.1 billion.
Galaxy Entertainment Group also made the charts, at 20th on the hotel, restaurant and leisure company list and position 1,170 on the Global 2,000 list, with sales of $1.07 billion and a market value of $30 billion.
Other Macau operators Melco, Wynn and SJM were not listed on the Global 2,000.
Forbes creates the rankings based on a composite score calculated from revenue, profits, assets and stock market value.
Other gambling companies placed highly on the charts, with Flutter Entertainment – who run Betfair, FanDuel and Paddy Power – rising 239 places on the overall ranking to 1,077 and placing 13th on the shortlist, with sales of $9.5 billion and a market value of $34.4 billion.
US-based Caesars Entertainment snagged position 16 on the shortlist and placed at 1,280 on the Global 2,000 – with sales of $11.4 billion and a market value of $9.6 billion.
Aristocrat Leisure also placed highly, at 19th on the shortlist and at position 1,611 overall (rising 33 spots), with sales of $4 billion and a market value of $16.6 billion.
Cruise company Carnival Corp also made the short list, at 9th, while ranked 959th overall, with $15 billion in sales and a market value of $12.6 billion. Fellow cruise operator Royal Caribbean Cruises tallied in at 12th on the shortlist and at 1,052 on the Global 2,000, with $10.7 billion in sales and a market value of $19.3 billion, according to Forbes.
