ACMA orders block of 7 more illegal online gambling sites

Australia’s communications authority (ACMA) has requested that internet service providers block seven other illegal online gambling sites.

This now brings the total to 1,251 sites that the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has requested to be blocked since November 2019.

The group also notes that around 220 illegal services have been pulled out of the Australian market since the ACMA started enforcing new illegal online gambling rules in 2017.

The new sites include Casiny, CoinPoker, Crown Play, Fafabet9, SlotFred, Smart 93 and Vigor Spin.

They were found to be operating in breach of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.

The ACMA, alongside other Australian regulatory bodies, has been taking an increasingly active role in going after breaches of legislation – announcing recently that it had fined Tabcorp some AU$4 million ($2.6 million) for breaching spam laws in its VIP customer campaign.
