Crown Resorts said its flagship casino in Melbourne will open some gaming areas as of Friday, 29 October, with further space to become available on Saturday.

The company was permitted to open certain non-gaming operations from Oct. 22, in line with the Victorian government’s roadmap for easing Covid restrictions.

The company announced the resort would be closed on August 6th as the state went into lockdown to combat Australia’s rising Covid cases.

After 262 days of restrictions, Victoria lifted its coronavirus lockdown last week, allowing locals to leave home without an essential reason and to travel without limits.

It follows the state’s reopening roadmap milestone of hitting 70 percent full vaccination status. Deputy Premier James Merlino boasted the state was “on track to become one of the most highly vaccinated jurisdictions in the world”.

Under the eased rules, people will be allowed to have ten visitors to their home each day, and the 10km travel limit in metropolitan Melbourne has been removed. However, travel to regional areas is currently still barred.
