Crown Resorts has announced that it has ceased its gaming activities as well as all F&B, retail and conference facilities at Crown Melbourne due to the state-mandated 7-day lockdown, which came into effect at 8pm on Thursday and runs until midnight of August 12th.

In a statement, the group notes that the hotel accommodation will continue to be provided “for approved purposes” and that it will continue to pay employee salaries during the lockdown period.

The state’s premier announced the shutdown on Thursday, noting that only five reasons were allowed for leaving home: getting food and supplies, exercise for up to two hours, care or caregiving, authorised work or education or to get vaccinated. Face masks will remain mandatory indoors and outdoors and private and public gatherings are not permitted.
