BetGames expands portfolio with Feng Shui Fortune, rooted in Feng Shui traditions

0

BetGames has introduced Feng Shui Fortune, a new game themed around the ancient Chinese practice of geomancy (Feng Shui), blending cultural symbolism with modern betting entertainment, where free spins, expanding wilds, and a Hold & Win feature create harmony, balance, and potential.

Symbols of perseverance and prosperity line the 5×3 gold and red-framed reels, including Chinese zodiac animals and the high-paying Buddha, the latter of which awards 40x when five land on a payline.

Landing three, four or five scatters grants entry to the bonus round with 10, 12 or 15 free spins, during which wilds that form part of a winning combination expand to cover their entire reel.

The Hold & Win feature is activated by landing a minimum of five gold cash coins, which can carry values up to 15x, or Mini, Major or Mega jackpot prizes worth 25x, 50x, or 200x. All regular paying symbols are removed, and the round begins with three respins, with every additional cash coin resetting the number of spins.

Once no respins remain, all cash values are collected and paid out, while filling the entire grid with 15 coins awards the 10,000x maximum win.

Feng Shui Fortune further highlights BetGames’ strategic move to align content with industry trends and localised player preferences, leveraging the popularity of Chinese culture and mythology to deliver an immersive and entertaining gameplay experience.

Ian Catchick, Chief Product and Business Development Officer at BetGames, said: “Feng Shui Fortune represents an evolution of the BetGames slot portfolio as we look to cater to a diverse variety of player preferences across global markets. The legends and lore of ancient China have captivated for millennia, and they continue to live on across entertainment mediums, including in online casino games. We have tapped into this fan-favourite theme to craft a slot with vibrant visuals and deeply engaging gameplay, where the proven popular Hold & Win feature complements the action with major win potential.”

Philippine senator seeks to scrap travel tax to boost mobility, honour ASEAN pact

0

A Philippine lawmaker has moved to abolish travel taxes for Filipinos departing the country, arguing that the levy restricts the right to travel and runs counter to regional tourism commitments.

According to PhilStar Global, in a bill filed in the Senate, Senator Erwin Tulfo said the travel tax, imposed on all departing Filipino passengers except certain exempt groups, should be scrapped in line with the ASEAN Tourism Agreement, which the Philippines signed in 2002 to promote freer movement across Southeast Asia.

“Nearly 14 years since the Philippines signed the ASEAN Tourism Agreement, we still impose travel tax,” Tulfo said, calling the measure a step toward making travel “more equitable, accessible and reasonably priced for Filipinos.”

Currently, travelers pay between PHP1,620 ($27.63) and PHP2,700 ($46.03) for economy to first-class tickets, with reduced rates of PHP810 ($13.80) to PHP1,350 ($23) and PHP300 ($5.13) to PHP400 ($6.84) for dependents of overseas Filipino workers.

Half of travel-tax revenues go to the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority, 40 percent to the Commission on Higher Education and 10 percent to the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.

Major properties include Wimbledon, the US Open, Roland-Garros, Major League Soccer and the PGA Tour.

Sportradar said the transaction would accelerate revenue and earnings growth and be accretive to margins and free cash flow. Unusually, the company said it will not pay for the assets; instead, it will receive total financial consideration of $225 million, including $122 million in cash prepayments to sports rightsholders by the seller and about $103 million payable directly to Sportradar over two years.

‘With this, we are uniquely positioned to deliver even more immersive, data-rich experiences to our clients, partners and fans around the world while accelerating innovation at scale’, chief executive Carsten Koerl said in a statement.

The deal boosts Sportradar’s annual sports coverage to more than one million events and marks a key step in its strategy to cement its lead in the fast-growing sports betting technology and data industry.

Miss Universe organizers under police probe for promoting PH gambling site in Thailand

Thai police have launched an investigation into the Miss Universe organizing team after a Filipino contestant was seen promoting an online gambling website — an act prohibited under Thailand’s strict anti-gambling laws.

The incident took place during pre-pageant events at a hotel in Bangkok on Sunday, drawing scrutiny to the international beauty competition just weeks before its grand finale.

According to The Thaiger, members of the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) allegedly instructed the Filipina candidate to pose with a pillow featuring the Playtime logo, a Philippine-based online casino licensed by PAGCOR. The footage briefly appeared on official social media channels, prompting complaints from witnesses and hotel staff. Local police were called to the scene around 4 p.m., confiscated the branded pillow and filming equipment, and brought members of the organizing team in for questioning.

Nawat Itsaragrisil, vice president of Miss Universe Thailand and chairman of the country’s host committee, told reporters he was unaware of the shoot and that the presence of gambling-related imagery “raised immediate concern.” He emphasized that the Thai organizers had “no participation whatsoever” in the campaign, noting that the activity clearly violated Thai law.

A statement from Miss Universe Thailand further distanced the local host from the global organizer, asserting that “the said promotion was carried out solely by the Miss Universe Organization.” The statement added that, as the official host of the 74th Miss Universe competition, the Thai committee is responsible only for local operations and not for any sponsorship arrangements involving online casinos.

Inquirer.net reported that MUO brought in the Filipino company behind Playtime as the “official journey partner” of the event, despite Thailand’s prohibition on gambling advertising. The dispute escalated after police entered the hotel to seize promotional materials. Online commentators, including Cuban pageant vlogger Luis Portelles, described the incident as “chaotic” and reflective of rising tension between MUO and its Thai counterpart.

The Miss Universe Organization, co-owned by Mexico’s Legacy Holdings and Thailand’s JKN Group, has faced internal conflicts since former CEO Anne Jakrajutatip stepped down earlier this year. Current president Raul Rocha has reportedly clashed with Thai organizer Nawat Itsaragrisil over control of promotional and media activities ahead of the upcoming Miss Universe competition in Thailand on November 27th.

The controversy comes as Thailand reaffirms its opposition to gambling legalization. During high-level talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping last week, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul reiterated that his government “will not pursue casino legalization,” underscoring the nation’s long-standing no-casino policy despite regional trends toward gaming expansion.

Thai authorities have yet to announce whether formal charges will be filed against MUO personnel. AGB has reached out to Playtime for comment but had received no response as of press time.
