The Victorian royal commission has just been given more time and funding to examine Crown Resorts’ suitability to hold a license. This week, Crown has had to answer about its VIP practices, some of which led to the arrest of 19 staff in China in 2016.

He says the framework that has been put in place isn't ideal and some changes are needed to ensure an adequate return on the multi-billion dollar investments that are planned. 

International pressure to further regulate the online gaming industry will continue to grow, in Asia and beyond, industry veteran Fredric Gushin commented today.

Fredric Gushin says that Thailand runs the risk of being "left behind by its neighbors" unless it embraces gaming in the country. While initial talks boded well for Thailand to progress with not only casino gambling, but also online gaming and sports betting, efforts appear to have slowed.

Taking into account the Asian gaming landscape and recent developments, Fredric Gushin, president and CEO of Spectrum Gaming Group, underscored the growing interest of Thai government officials in the remarkable economic success stories of Singapore and the Philippines.

Spectrum Gaming Group expects that within five years the ratio of jurisdictional online gaming will increase to about 2/3rds of all online gaming. The forecast was shared at the ASEAN Gaming Summit 2022 by Spectrum's managing director, Fredric Gushin, in his presentation on “Asia’s future online licensing landscape.” 

The Global Gaming Expo Asia (G2E Asia) serves as a yearly “mecca”, according to Chien-Ee Yeh, President of Reed Exhibitions Asia Pacific, with the event making an IR-centric return on June 4th-6th.

Macau's shift to effectively eliminate junkets and control credit-issuing options is strongly in line with the policies that both the Macau and mainland Chinese government are after, notes an expert.

The Legislative Assembly of Macau's approval of gaming credit legislation, which prohibits junkets from extending gaming credit, is viewed as a significant step towards aligning with public policy in China and Macau.
