Vietnam is targeting some 17 to 18 million international visitors in 2024, with tourism receipts expected to reach some VND840 trillion ($34.7 billion).
According to reports, Vietnam received some 12.6 million international visitors last year, about 70 percent of pre-pandemic figures, with tourism revenue reaching VND678 trillion ($27.8 billion).
The majority of visitors came from South Korea – totaling 3.6 million, while those from China amounted to 1.7 million.
The country also offered some 780,000 hotel rooms across 38,000 tourist accommodations, with 247 five-star hotels offering nearly 81,000 rooms.
Vietnam has recently been moving to increase visitation by easing visa policies and encouraging more foreign direct investment.
The country is also exploring more casinos which allow locals to gamble, with a project in Van Don (run by developer Sun Group) following the trial run in Phu Quoc (Corona Resort).
