CNMI representative Christina Sablan has urged the House of Representatives Committee on Gaming to summon Governor Ralph Torres and IPI chair Cui Jie to testify at a legislative oversight hearing on the governance, financial suitability and compliance failures of Imperial Pacific International.
The hearings, expected to be held in June 2021 will examine the recent federal court findings that IPI was complicit in human trafficking and forced labor. She noted that IPI has now barred from the H2B worker program and the Commonwealth-Only Transitional program.
As it stands, “how will they ever finish the Garapan project, let alone the remaining development phases they promised in the casino license agreement?” Sablan asked.
