Imperial Pacific International has laid off more than 100 of its casino workers at its property on Saipan.

The struggling company said it did not expect U.S. immigration authorities to grant a requested extension to their work permits. The workers are from the Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam.

In related news, IPI said it will be repatriating around 200 CNMI-Only Transitional Worker employees who are on the non-construction side starting from June, according to IPI interim chief executive officer Ray N. Yumul.

Imperial Pacific is facing multiple lawsuits and has struggled to complete its long-delayed project. The company’s casino license has been suspended indefinitely.
