Air Macau on Wednesday launched new flights to Kuala Lumpur. The region’s flag carrier will operate four flights a week between Macau and Kuala Lumpur International Airport. During the launch ceremony ahead of the maiden flight, Air Macau General Manager Zhu Paibo said the airline was accelerating the opening of international routes in line with government policies.

Macau’s flagship carrier Air Macau has seen its concession contract extended yet again, this time for a period of up to three years or until the government completes and implements in the new Civil Aviation Activity Law.

Macau’s flagship carrier, Air Macau, saw a continuous increase in international tourists to Macau, according to company data, with nearly 7,000 ticket sales weekly for overseas flights, as the uptick kept at 20 percent weekly. 

The Macau government is expected to make an additional capital injection into Air Macau, the third such capital increase since 2009, to help the company overcome the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
