Macau’s flagship airline Air Macau is going to be increasing its flight frequency to regional destinations this summer, targeting primary markets such as Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea, Singapore and Taiwan

According to TDM, the company will have two daily flights each to Taipei and Kaoshiung.

  • One daily flight is scheduled for Singapore and Seoul.
  • Some eight weekly flights will run between Macau and Thailand.
  • For Hanoi, Danang, Tokyo and Osaka, there will be four weekly flights.

The move comes as low-cost carriers are also upping their weekly flights between Macau and primary tourism hotspots – with Air Asia already announcing its intention to increase flight frequencies.

Macau already saw the number of commercial flights soar between January and April, up 108 percent yearly, to 9,162 trips.

The SAR has also planned and been conducting tourism tradeshows in regional markets, such as Thailand, as it aims to boost visitation from the regions, in line with its non-gaming push and move towards more foreign visitors.
