The Macau SAR government has extended its instant lottery concession agreement with Macau Slot for an additional year, according to an announcement published in the Official Gazette on Wednesday.
The Financial Services Bureau confirmed that the contract will now run until June 5th, 2026, with the possibility of further extensions subject to mutual agreement between both parties.
As part of the renewal terms, Macau Slot is required to prioritize local employment by progressively reducing its number of non-resident workers. The company must also cooperate with the government in implementing hiring and training initiatives aimed at expanding local workforce participation in alignment with official labor policies.
Macau Slot has previously stated its support for the government’s employment objectives, identifying local employment protection as part of its corporate responsibility. The company has outlined a plan to reduce its non-resident workforce, which currently represents around 15 percent of its total staff.
According to the plan, Macau Slot aims to cut 35 percent of non-professional non-resident positions—approximately 26 roles—by the end of the first quarter of 2026. Additional phased reductions are expected to follow.
Company disclosures show Macau Slot reported a profit of MOP130.88 million ($16.3 million) in 2024. Since launching football betting in 1998 and basketball betting in 2000, the company has focused on developing gaming entertainment products and has built a solid customer base.
The annual financial results document also notes that, despite external macroeconomic pressures and a slower recovery in neighboring regions, Macau’s economy has remained relatively stable under the guidance of government policies.
Managing Director Ng Chi Sing stated that the company will continue to expand its portfolio of sports betting products to meet market demand while investing in upgraded information technology systems.
