Two ferry operators serving routes between Hong Kong and Macau will raise ticket prices by about 10 percent starting April 25th, citing a sharp increase in fuel costs and broader inflationary pressures.
TurboJET said it has received approval from the Macau government to implement the fare adjustment. On routes between Hong Kong and Macau’s Outer Harbour and Taipa terminals, weekday daytime standard class fares will increase from HK$175 ($22.4) to HK$194 ($24.8), while weekend and holiday daytime fares will rise to HK$212 ($27).
Cotai Water Jet, operated by Sands China, the Macau unit of Las Vegas Sands, also announced a similar adjustment, with weekday daytime standard class fares increasing to HK$192 ($24.5), effective the same day.
TurboJET attributed the increase to the recent surge in fuel prices, alongside continued upward pressure on operating costs. The company indicated that the adjustment reflects cost realities facing the sector following sustained volatility in global energy markets.
The fare increases affect key cross-border routes linking Hong Kong with Macau’s main ferry terminals, which remain an important transport option for travelers despite growing competition from land-based alternatives.
Both operators have long played a central role in facilitating passenger flows between the two cities, supporting leisure, business and gaming-related travel demand.
