DOC DMC and smallWORLD mark 18 years with launch of Macau Event Company

More than 100 MICE industry leaders gathered at Riverside Macau on 16 September to celebrate the 18th anniversary of DOC DMC Macau & Hong Kong and smallWORLD Experience, and mark the launch of Macau Event Company (MEC).

MEC is a new specialist company focused on event management, event production, audiovisual services, stage fabrication, creative concepts and entertainment sourcing. It builds on the group’s experience delivering meetings, conferences, incentive programmes, themed events and corporate experiences in Macau and the Greater Bay Area.

Held under the theme “18 Years of Experience. A New Chapter Begins,” the event brought together representatives from hotels, destination management companies, event agencies, government organisations, chambers of commerce, industry partners, clients and suppliers.

Guests attended a networking reception featuring food stations, beverage tastings, a historical photo exhibition and videos highlighting the group’s work over the past 18 years.

Bruno Simões, Founder and Director of DOC DMC and smallWORLD, said the launch represented “the next chapter of our business,” bringing together the expertise of three complementary brands under one vision.

Cody Cao, Director of smallWORLD Experience, said the company would focus increasingly on team building and experiential learning as it expands internationally. “AI cannot connect people. What we have is us,” he said, highlighting the importance of human interaction in creating meaningful experiences.

Sam Li, Director of MEC, said the new company would provide “professional and innovative solutions” while supporting the continued growth of Macau’s MICE industry.

The event also introduced Macau Event Pros, a collaborative platform combining the services of DOC DMC, smallWORLD and MEC. The platform offers destination management, congress organisation, event production, entertainment, team building and corporate experiences through an integrated sales team.

Heep Wo Investment Company sponsored the event and hosted guests at Riverside Macau, its waterfront development in the historic Barra district. Paul Ko, Director of Heep Wo Investment Company, said the venue was honoured to host the anniversary celebration and the launch of the group’s new chapter as Macau Event Pros.
