Konami Group’s casino equipment arm more than doubled its profit in the first half of the financial year, as demand for its Solstice 49C cabinet lifted machine sales in North America and Australia.

The Tokyo-listed group said in its consolidated results for the first half on Thursday that its gaming and systems segment earned business profit of roughly JPY2.41 billion (US$15.3 million) in the six months ended 30 September, against JPY949 million in the same period last year, an increase of about 154%. Segment revenue climbed 41.3% to around JPY25.11 billion, according to GGRAsia’s report on the interim results. That lifted the segment’s margin to about 10%, double the 5% it posted a year earlier.

Solstice cabinet does the heavy lifting

Konami put the jump in unit sales down to the Solstice 49C, a cabinet built around a curved 49-inch ultra high definition screen. Its Bomberman slot series kept leading the company’s sales in North America, while the Dragon Rush and Bull Rush Stampede titles performed well with Australian venues. The company described both regions as stable, with new casino openings and the replacement cycle at existing properties creating room to place more machines.

Two further cabinets in the range are on the way. Solstice 27, which pairs two 27-inch displays, and the larger Solstice SuperNova, with a 75-inch C-curve screen, were shown at the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas earlier this month and are scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2026.

SYNKROS passes 150,000 connected slots

On the systems side, Konami said its SYNKROS casino management platform now links more than 150,000 slot machines worldwide. Uptake has widened across land-based casinos and the cruise ships run by Carnival Corporation, following the fleetwide SYNKROS rollout with Carnival announced in June.

The company was frank about the pressure from rival suppliers. “Competitors are continuously introducing new products, creating an environment that requires stronger product appeal,” Konami said in comments carried by AsGam. It added that it is working on new machines, new game content and new casino management features in response, and that it aims “to expand our market share through the continued development of various functions utilizing cutting-edge technologies.”

Full year guidance held as group forecasts rise

Konami left its full year outlook for the gaming and systems division unchanged at JPY46 billion in revenue and JPY6.5 billion in business profit for the year to 31 March 2027. Hitting that profit target implies business profit of around JPY4.1 billion in the October to March half, well above the first half figure.

At group level, half year revenue grew 37.0% to almost JPY308 billion, while net profit attributable to shareholders of the parent was up 70.5% at about JPY79.2 billion. Pointing to better than expected trading in digital entertainment, Konami now expects annual revenue of JPY583 billion, up from a previous JPY505 billion, and net profit of JPY135 billion instead of JPY101 billion. Shareholders will receive JPY112 a share as an interim payout on 19 November, and the full year dividend forecast has been increased to JPY299 from JPY224.

The casino business remains a small part of the conglomerate, but its home market is coming into view. In July, Konami Gaming said it had become the first equipment maker to lodge licence applications with Japan’s Casino Regulatory Commission, with MGM Osaka scheduled to open in 2030.
