Macau’s hotel establishments recorded an average occupancy rate of 91.3 percent during the seven-day National Day Golden Week from October 1st to 7th, up 3.1 percentage points from the same holiday in 2025, while average room rates eased.
Occupancy peaked at 97 percent on October 2nd, the second day of the holiday, according to industry figures released by the Macao SAR Government.
The average room rate across hotels, apartment hotels and economy accommodation establishments was around MOP1,677.3 ($207) during the holiday, down 1.7 percent from last year’s National Day break.
Record daily arrivals
Preliminary figures show Macau registered 1.143 million visitor arrivals over the seven days. Average daily arrivals topped 163,000, up 15.5 percent year-on-year, and single-day arrivals peaked at about 210,000 on October 4th.
Both the daily average and the single-day peak were the highest on record for a National Day holiday since official statistics began, the government said.
Visitors from mainland China accounted for 972,000 of the arrivals, with Hong Kong contributing 119,000, Taiwan 12,000 and international markets 39,000. Average daily mainland arrivals reached 139,000, up 19.6 percent from 116,000 during the 2025 holiday.
Arrivals had already passed 1.05 million in the first six days of the holiday.
Events during the week included the 34th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest and a Fireworks Carnival on the waterfront next to the Macao Science Center, along with pedestrian zones in Taipa Village and along Rua de Nossa Senhora do Amparo.
The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and police carried out 187 inspections at ports of entry, tourist attractions, shopping areas and hotels during the holiday, Focus Gaming News reported.
The softer room rates came alongside record crowds, and analysts have been cautious on whether higher visitation will translate into gaming revenue. CLSA kept its October GGR forecast flat despite the strong Golden Week turnout.
