Sands China announces one-month salary bonus and pay raise

Sands China has announced that a discretionary bonus, equivalent to one month’s salary, will be paid to eligible team members.

According to the press release, the bonus is intended to recognize employees’ contributions in 2023.

Simultaneously, the Macau SAR gaming concessionaire also declared a pay raise for 99 percent of Sands China’s 26,000 team members, effective March 1, 2024. The salary increase ranges from 2.5 to 5.4 percent.

Eligible employees with monthly salaries up to MOP 13,000 ($1,617) (before tax) will receive a pay raise of MOP 600 ($75), resulting in a salary increase of between 4.7 and 5.4 percent. Eligible full-time team members with monthly salaries above MOP 13,000 (before tax) will receive a 2.5 percent pay raise.

In a message to team members, Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Ltd., mentioned, “As tourism in Macau resumed after the pandemic, it was their concerted effort that smoothly transitioned our business back to full capacity, breathing life into our spaces once again.” He continued, “In light of our achievements, fueled by your dedication, we are excited to express our gratitude through the announcement of the 2023 discretionary bonus award and the 2024 salary increase.”

Sands China is a leader in hotel room inventory in Macau, holding nearly 40 percent of the hotel room market share.

MGM China was the first gaming concessionaire in Macau to announce a year-end bonus, but no salary raise was mentioned.
