The Australian cruise industry, which has been shut down for more than 12 months is demanding to be allowed to restart operations now that a trans-Tasman bubble has been established.

Earlier this week, New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Adern announced that the country will start allowing Australian residents to travel there without mandatory quarantine, opening up the two countries to cross-border tourism.

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Australasian spokesman Joel Katz said that restarting the cruise industry between the two countries will reignite 25,000 jobs.
