The Star Entertainment Group confirmed in a filing with the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) on Tuesday that the appointments of Brooke Lindsay and former MGM China chief executive Grant Bowie as non-executive directors took effect on September 1st.
Both directors have obtained regulatory and ministerial approvals. Their appointments bring independent representation on the Australian casino operator’s board to 50 percent.
The Star first announced Lindsay’s proposed appointment on April 1st, followed by Bowie’s on April 16th. Both served as board observers while awaiting approvals.
The company also announced the proposed appointment of Donna Isaacs as an independent non-executive director. Isaacs will serve as a board observer and join once regulatory and ministerial approvals are obtained.
Independent directors are expected to form a majority of the board following Isaacs’ appointment, Star said.
Isaacs is an investor and community leader with experience in financial markets, risk, private investment and philanthropy in Australia and the United States. She began her career as a money-market dealer with Mitsubishi Trust, Australia Bank and Macquarie Bank before becoming a trustee of the Isaacs Family Foundation.
Bowie previously led MGM China and held senior roles at Wynn Resorts in Macau, bringing extensive Asian gaming experience to Star’s board.
