Gross gambling revenue in the first week of March picked up from the last week of February after China eased travel restrictions, Bernstein Research said in a note.

The firm said GGR was about MOP1.8 billion ($225 million) from March 1 to 7. The average daily rate of MOP257 million is up 19 percent week on week, but down 70 percent from 2019.

However, Bernstein said that without changes to visa issuance, or testing routines, as well as an opening with Hong Kong, visitation will remain depressed. It expects a more “robust GGR uplift” to begin this summer.
