MGTO expects 25,000 visitors per day during Golden Week

Macau Government and Tourism Office director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes is expecting visitor arrivals to exceed 25,000 per day during the October Golden Week holidays.

The MGTO director made the comments during an interview with Macau TDM, and is in line with cautiously optimistic views towards visitation recovery as of recent.

Part of this is due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 delta strain earlier this month, which has only seen Macau re-loosening its travel restrictions this week.

Last year’s Golden Week saw visitors from Mainland China fall 86 percent year-on-year. Total visitation was down to around 150,000 visitors or an average of fewer than 20,000 visitors per day. This was despite Chinese tourists being able to travel to Macau at the time.
