Australia’s financial watchdog (AUSTRAC) has launched a new online reporting platform for the businesses it regulates.
According to a new statement, the AUSTRAC Online platform has been redesigned ‘to give businesses a more efficient, accessible and secure way to manage their regulatory obligations’.
The group states that AUSTRAC Online offers ‘improved security’, a better user interface across all devices and ‘enhanced self-service options and clearer guidance’.
The Australian financial authority has recently been highly focused on regulating the gaming industry, after a series of incidents with major casino operators and online gaming platforms.
This includes fines against casinos, pokie operators, crypto exchange platforms, sports betting outlets, banks and other enterprises.
In particular focus were Australia’s main gaming operators The Star Entertainment and Crown Resorts, which both were issued hefty fines for non-compliance with AML/CTF legislation. The companies have since worked to align with responsible gaming practices and update their teams and service standards accordingly.
