Queensland posts 32 percent growth GGR for 2Q2022

Gross gambling revenue (GGR) for the month of July is up 16 percent on monthly basis at A$62 million in July 2022, from A$54 million in June 2022, data released by Queensland Government shows.

On a year-on-year basis, the revenue is up 32 percent from A$47 million.

The growth in revenue is despite 1 percent dent in the number of operational machines in Brisbane on a year-on-year basis at 8,142 from 8,202 machines.

Installations

Barring Brisbane North, the machines population across Brisbane East, Brisbane South, Brisbane West and Brisbane Inner City declined on a year-on-year basis.

Number of machines installed in Brisbane North grew 5 percent on a year-on-year basis at 1,612 machines in Jul 22, from 1,537 machines in Jul 21.

Geography

Of the total revenue pie of $62 million 33 percent revenue was pumped out from Brisbane South at A$21 million up 34 percent on a year-on-year basis as compared to A$15 million, a year ago during the same quarter.

Whereas 21 percent contribution to the GGR in Brisbane came from Brisbane North where the number of installed machines grew on a year-on-year basis.

Brisbane North reported GGR of A$13 million up 31 percent from A$10 million during the same quarter in last year.

Brisbane East and Brisbane Inner City contributed 19 percent each to the July 2022 GGR on a year-on-year basis, recording A$12 million from A$9 million, during the same quarter previous year.

Brisbane East reported 26 percent jump in July 2022 GGRs as compared to July 2021 GGRs, whereas Brisbane Inner City reported 34 percent spike in the GGRs during the same period cycle.

Whereas Brisbane West contributed 8 percent to the GGR pie, registering A$5 million from A$4 million, recording 33 percent spike on a year-on-year basis.

Segments

Of the total population of 40,145 machines installed across Clubs and Hotels in Brisbane during July 2022, 21,094 machines are installed in Clubs, whereas balance 19,051 machines are installed at hotels.

The Club segment contributes 53 percent of the total machines installed, whereas balance 47 percent of installations are across hotels.

Despite dent of 0.4 percent on a year-on-year basis in terms of total numbers of machines installed across clubs and hotels, GGR in Brisbane for Jul 2022 from across Hotels and Clubs grew 21 percent on a year-on-year basis at A$302 million, from A$250 million.

Out of the total A$302 million GGR generated from machines installed across clubs and hotels in July 2022, A$126 million was generated from machines installed at Clubs, an uptick of 18 percent on a year-on-year basis, whereas A$176 million was generated from machines installed across hotels, registering growth of 23 percent on YoY basis.

Of the A$302 million GGRs generated in Brisbane from machine installations across Clubs and Hotels, 42 percent of revenues were generated from the Clubs segment, whereas 58 percent of revenues were generated from the hotels segment.
