The Queensland club and pub markets saw gaming gross revenue go up 4.1 percent in December last year and up by 4.6 percent from the previous month, a dispatch by consultancy company Wohlsen Consulting states.

According to the consultancy data, for December 2023, the 40,340 electronic gaming machines in the state generated some AU$296.1 million ($199 million) in machine gross revenue, or AU$226 ($152) in average daily revenue per machine.

‘December this year provided the market with 10 full weekend days of trade, same as last year, compared with November which offered only eight weekend days. Since 2015, the average uplift for December versus November was 4.3 percent, so the 4.6 percent performance this year is in line with normal trading patterns,’ stated analyst Geoff Wohlsen.

According to Wohlsen, the regions enjoyed the strongest growth, with some notable exceptions with Far North Queensland impacted by poor weather and flooding.

However, overall Wohlsen stated that clubs enjoyed stronger growth in December than Pubs, with sector market share jumping about two percentage points to 44.3 percent in December.
