Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) has been officially listed among the testing laboratories whose certification reports are accepted by Uzbekistan’s gaming regulator.

The approval by the National Agency of Perspective Projects of the Republic of Uzbekistan (NAPP) allows operators and suppliers to use GLI certification reports when launching gaming products in the country, according to a company press release issued on August 25th.

GLI said Uzbekistan’s regulated gaming market is entering its operational phase, with four licenses issued across two operators.

“Uzbekistan is on track to become a key regulated market in Central Asia and GLI is proud to be named among the first testing laboratories whose certification reports are accepted under the new framework,” Lucas Zavarise, GLI’s Government and Regulatory Affairs Manager for EMEIA, said.

Zavarise said the recognition reflects GLI’s experience supporting emerging regulated markets. He added that NAPP aims to ensure the country’s gaming industry develops in a controlled and sustainable manner.

Representatives from GLI and NAPP met earlier in August to discuss the new regulatory framework and how the testing company could support the market’s longer-term development.

GLI said parts of Uzbekistan’s technical framework are still being established. The company remains in discussions with NAPP while the regulator continues to refine its requirements.
