Imperial Pacific makes July settlement payment, urged to pay on time

Although conducted one day after it was meant to, reports indicate Imperial Pacific has paid out its July settlement payment.

The payment relates to some $3.36 million in back wages, liquidated damages and civil monetary policies uncovered during a US Department of Labor investigation into labor violations on its Saipan resort, conducted by IPI’s contractors.

Courts have ruled that IPI pay out some $1.47 million in monthly installments of $164,270 from the beginning of April until December 1st as well as submitting a weekly status report to the federal court.

IPI paid out $1.92 million between March 2019 and March 2021 to the DOH and says it has since amended its payroll practices to comply with minimum wage and overtime provisions of the law.
