OKTO PAYMENTS unveils direct Yape connection for seamless one-click payments

OKTO PAYMENTS, the global payment service provider (PSP) focused on high-growth and regulated industries, has announced a direct integration with Yape, Peru’s leading digital wallet, enabling merchants to access one of the country’s most widely used payment methods through a single API connection.

The new integration establishes a direct connection to the Yape payment rail, allowing merchants to benefit from improved economics, greater operational control, stronger approval performance, and a streamlined payment experience for customers.

Designed for businesses operating across iGaming, e-commerce, digital content, and the creator economy, the direct integration reduces reliance on intermediaries while enhancing reconciliation, transaction efficiency, and overall payment performance.

Through one integration, merchants can now offer both of Yape’s core payment experiences. Yape One Shot enables customers to complete purchases without registering bank details or entering additional verification codes. Once Yape is selected at checkout, the application opens automatically on the customer’s device, allowing the transaction to be approved with a single tap.

Meanwhile, Yape On File is designed for returning customers, securely linking their wallet once so that future payments can be completed with a single click. Together, the two solutions support the entire customer journey, simplifying first-time transactions while encouraging repeat purchases and deposits through a frictionless experience.

Yape has become a key driver of financial inclusion in Peru, with more than 16 million active users, including 7 million previously unbanked consumers. The platform has grown beyond its origins as a peer-to-peer payments app and is now the preferred payment method for more than 5 million businesses across the country.

Beyond providing access to Yape, OKTO PAYMENTS offers merchants a comprehensive payments infrastructure platform that supports local pay-ins and payouts through a single integration, treasury and liquidity management, compliance support, and automated reconciliation, transaction monitoring, and risk management services.

“This is about helping merchants play differently, to deepen customer relationships, deliver more personalised experiences, and remove the barriers that quietly kill payment conversion,” said César Rodríguez Otaola, General Manager, North Latin America, at OKTO PAYMENTS. “A direct partnership with Yape means we’re closer to the source of money, which translates into better performance and better economics for the businesses that run on us.”

Claudia Silva, Head of Payments at Yape, added: “Yape is the payment method that millions of Peruvians choose every day, and through our Yape On File and Yape One Shot solutions, we seek to simplify the purchasing experience for both merchants and consumers. This integration brings that simplicity directly to digital businesses, providing companies with a fast and reliable way to accept Yape, whether it is a customer’s first purchase or a returning user paying with a single click. The result is fewer barriers at checkout and a payment experience built around a platform that people already know and trust. This is an important step toward a more connected and inclusive digital economy in Peru.”

OKTO PAYMENTS currently processes more than €17 billion in annual transaction volume and supports more than 40 international and local merchants across regulated markets throughout Latin America. The company continues to focus on helping businesses increase conversion, accelerate capital movement, and operate confidently in complex payment environments across Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Colombia, and Peru.

Built for a rapidly evolving payment landscape

The launch comes amid strong growth in Peru’s digital payments market. According to BCRP data compiled by CAPECE, digital transactions increased by 61.8% during the first half of 2025 compared to the same period in the previous year. E-commerce now represents approximately 65% of all card spending in the country, while digital wallet transactions have expanded by more than 500% since 2019, making them the fastest-growing payment method in Peru.

OKTO PAYMENTS’ performance data also indicates that trusted digital wallets such as Yape can achieve approval rates 8% to 10% higher than traditional payment methods, including bank transfers. By enabling consumers to pay using familiar and trusted payment experiences, merchants can reduce checkout abandonment and improve overall conversion rates.
