Saipan’s Commonwealth Casino Commission has re-appointed Andrew Yeom as its Executive Director, conditionally for two months due to the group’s lack of funding.
The CCC board chair noted that the appointment was to help Yeom conclude pending issues with Imperial Pacific International’s casino license, according to reports.
Yeom is a petitioner for the revocation hearing of IPI’s casino license, notes the Saipan Tribune.
Speaking of the appointment, Yeom noted that “We’ve got unfinished business”, noting “I want to make sure that the industry goes in the right way”.
There have been multiple calls for the disbandment of the CCC, however experts note that the commission is unlikely to be paid its backlogged bills unless IPI settles its current alleged debt, amounting to roughly $62 million.
Yeom had previously argued that stripping IPI of its casino license was unconstitutional and is a proponent of multiple gaming licenses for the jurisdiction.
