The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has highlighted the role of the country’s licensed integrated resorts in supporting tourism, employment and healthcare programs.
Speaking at the Health & Wellness Conference and Expo (HWONFEX) 2026 on Friday, PAGCOR Health Services and Wellness Department officer-in-charge Janice Saraza said the gaming industry formed part of a broader entertainment and tourism ecosystem.
“Our licensed integrated resorts, for one, attract visitors, create employment, support businesses and generate significant economic activity,” Saraza said on behalf of PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco.
The regulator also works to ensure that gaming and entertainment businesses contribute to tourism while maintaining player-protection safeguards, she added.
Saraza said revenue generated by PAGCOR helps fund government programs in healthcare, education and social development. The agency has also worked with integrated casino licensees to support the construction of hospitals, provide medical equipment and improve access to essential healthcare services.
PAGCOR also highlighted its efforts to address problem gambling through a recently established national helpline.
The agency partnered with the Seagulls Flock Organization to create the 24-hour service, which provides confidential counseling and professional referrals to people experiencing gambling-related problems.
HWONFEX 2026, held on September 4th, brought together government agencies, industry representatives and wellness advocates. The event aims to support the Philippines’ development as a wellness tourism destination in Southeast Asia.
