SkyCity has announced the appointment of an interim Chief Operating Officer for New Zealand, elevating Brad Burnett to the role, effective on March 9th.
Burnett will be stepping into the role currently held by Callum Mallet, who will assume the role of interim Chief Executive Officer on March 9th.
According to a press release last week, Mallet ‘will remain in place whilst the SkyCity Board completes the recruitment process for a permanent Chief Executive Officer.
Back in October, the group announced that current CEO Michael Ahearne would be resigning from the role in March of 2024.
Ahearne had served as CEO since November of 2020 and has been with the New Zealand and Australia gaming operator since 2017.
The reason stated for his departure was that he would be ‘returning to Europe with his family’.
The new interim COO, Brad Burnett will be elevated from his current role of General Manager Table Games Auckland, a role he’s held since June of 2022.
Burnett has previously held numerous roles with the company, including Group General Manager Hotels. He also previously worked for the Blackstone Group and Westin Hotels & Resorts.
The group notes that the appointment is ‘subject to obtaining all necessary regulatory approvals, if any’.
